Axios: 11 Ways the ACA Markets are Shaping up for 2018

  1. Anthem is withdrawing almost all of its ACA plans in Indiana and Wisconsin.
  2. Health Care Service Corp filed rates in the five states it operates (IL MT, NM, OK, TX).
  3. Kaiser Permanente said it remains "very committed to the individual coverage market" and will offer coverage in every region where it currently operates
  4. Molina Healthcare submitted initial filings in all nine states it currently operates
  5. Centene, a Medicaid-based insurer that has had profitable ACA plans, is entering more markets.
  6. Oscar Health Insurance is expanding
  7. MDwise is pulling out of Indiana. Health Tradition, a plan owned by Mayo Clinic, is leaving Wisconsin.
  8. Medica expects to be in Iowa's exchange
  9. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama will offer individual and small-group plans in every county next year.
  10. Aetna, Humana and UnitedHealth Group decided to stop selling ACA plans in all or nearly all of their markets.
  11. States that operate their own insurance exchange are requesting sizable premium hikes next year.
