- Eighth-leading cause of cancer death in women
- 1 percent of people will be diagnoses with liver cancer during their lives
- Only 1 in 5 survives five years after diagnosis
- Liver cancer death rate for whites are 5.5 per 100,000
- Liver cancer death rate for American Indians/Alaska Natives are 12 per 100,000
- North Dakota has the nation's lowest liver cancer death rate (3.8 per 100,000)
- District of Columbia has the nation's highest cancer death rate (9.6 per 100,000).
