  1. Exchanges- 82 percent of respondents said it was highly unlikely they would direct full-time employees to state or federal exchanges without a subsidy
  2. Wellness- With premiums continuing their upward trend in 2013, employers sought strategies to control costs
  3. Compliance- The ACA 2014 employer mandate, also known as Play or Pay, rankled businesses and they complained loudly to the government
  4. Voluntary Benefits- In 2013, the ability to fill coverage gaps in core plans and the use of employee benefits to attract and retain top talent ranked high in importance to employers
  5. Education and Communications- Two studies released in 2013 revealed a disconnect between employees and their personal involvement in health and welfare benefits
