- Find a doctor you like. It’s important that you feel comfortable talking to your primary care doctor about anything related to your health.
- Get recommended screenings. The test you dread could save your life.
- Know the symptoms of heart attack and stroke. If you think you’re having a heart attack or stroke, get help immediately. Don’t wait.
- Start your day with an optimistic thought. We can all think of at least one, even in the toughest of times.
- Carefully assess your driving skills, and be smart about when it might be time to stop.
- Learn new things. Contrary to popular belief, you can teach an old dog new tricks.
- Guard your Social Security number. If your Medicare card is lost or stolen, report it right away. Call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) for a replacement.
- Move your body. You don’t have to take structured exercise classes; you just need to be as active as you can as often as you can.
- Select footwear carefully. To avoid falls go for rubber-soled, low-heeled shoes that allow you to feel the ground and find balance.
- Use your health plan. Your health plan is more than just an “insurance company.” They may offer programs to manage your chronic conditions, ease your transition from hospital to home, and provide
