  1. Prescription drug prices increased 8.77% overall in 2016
  2. The average annual Rx price increase was 9.98% over the last three years
  3. In comparison, the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) reported a 2.10% increase for 2016
  4. For Q1 2017, the Truveris NDI indicates that drug prices increased another 2.33%
  5. Branded drugs increased 12.92% in 2016
  6. Generic drugs increased 0.32% in 2016
  7. Specialty drugs increased 7.93% in 2016

Notes: The National Drug Index is a weighted price index that measures the average price of prescription drugs in the U.S., driven by the most commonly prescribed medications.
